Talia had been fascinated by the land walkers her entire life. She knew that there were evil ones among them, but that was the case with any creatures in this world. You needed the bad to be a beacon for the good.

She ignored the warnings of her clan and spent as much time as she could up there with them. It was her birthright to guide her people, and she believed she needed to know the world outside of the sea to do that properly when it was her time.

When they took her brother from her, it changed her accepting view of those who breathed out of the water. Her only objective now was to find out what happened to him, and then she was going to forbid her kind from walking on the land ever again.

Held captive since he was a child, he knew nothing of the world outside of his limited view. He hadn’t even heard his name spoken in decades. With no one to call him by his birth name, he hadn’t heard his name spoken in decades and accepted that he would remain nameless until the day he died.

Over the years, he had learned much about the way of the land dwellers as they talked freely in front of him while moving him from one location to the next, like he was a prized possession. What they didn’t know was that he had been watching and waiting for another opportunity when they believed he was no threat to them and unable to take back his freedom and escape. He was going to succeed the next time and then use his knowledge to destroy the land people and burn their world down, and all those who would try to stop him.
