The last ten years of Mattie’s life hadn’t gone as planned. As soon as she was old enough, she joined the military to serve and earn a real education so that she could build a secure future for herself.

That one decision changed the trajectory of her life.

A year after training, her team went down in a helicopter wreck. Months later, she woke up in an underground hospital where she had gone through many surgeries. After her recovery, she wasn’t given the choice to go through a different kind of training. The only good thing about any of it was that her team was there with her, but none of them were the same as before.

It took them a year to plot how to escape that hospital, but they did it. Now, seven years later they have to live in the shadows so they aren’t found and worked together in secret, to help those that no one else will.
